Division 2 - New Quay Reserves 4 v 7 Aberaeron Reserves

A fascinating game saw fully eleven goals at Parc Arthur on Tuesday night. Although Aberaeron ran out eventual winners, the result was in doubt for most of the game. Aeron had started brightly with a cool lob from Robbie Evans taking them in to the lead.

Soon enough though, New Quay hit back when Steve Moores burst through the defence to equalise where the keeper should have done better at his near post. Still reeling from this, Charles Harvey peeled off from the defence soon after to head home from six yards and take the lead.

Feeling they'd had the better of the first half, Aeron looked sharp at the start of the second half to equalise through Lee Browne but following two defensive lapses were soon four goals to two down; former Aberaeron player Nathan Davies twice showing his predatory instincts in front of goal to give New Quay the initiative.

Then the turning points came in the form of an own goal from defender Luke Thomas, a penalty scored by Jake Forbes given away by keeper Michael Bridges and the sending-off of player-manager Sean McQuinn. Following this Aberaeron found themselves a goal up and a man up. However, New Quay rallied and it took a good save from a Charles Harvey shot to take the final winds from their sails.

Huw Owen and Lee Browne each scored near the end to give Aberaeron a possibly flattering three goal win.
